Let’s join us to discover vibrant markets, narrow alleyways bursting with life, and hidden spots off the tourist trail in Saigon.
This tour begins at 08:00 at the local market; then browse the stalls inside the market, watching the vendors peddle their wares and shoppers bargain for the freshest goods. Later, wander onwards into the quietly narrow alleys. Seeing families use their ground floor for coffee shops or breakfast stalls lining the street.
Continue through neighbourhood alleys into a small temple honouring Vietnamese folklore’s five mother goddesses and hear more about this unique belief, then sit at the coffee shop in the alleys and taste the real Vietnamese coffee as well as find out more about how the city’s residents live. In the alleys, we visit the weapon bunker used during the Tet Offensive in 1968 and hear some historical stories at this stage.
We keep strolling to the Nguyen Thien Thuat apartment, one of the oldest ones in Saigon, to experience the real local atmosphere by climbing up the apartment building, which is quite something and a great way to observe local life here.
We conclude the tour at the flower Ho Thi Ky market that was established in 1987, affectionately called “little Da Lat,” which is the largest wholesale market for fresh flowers in Saigon.
Note: The meeting point is at the front entrance of Vuon Chuoi Market. This tour is best with an 8:00 am begin at the market; otherwise, the vibrancy will be missed by the market.
